Senior Data Analyst

The Intern is responsible for assisting the Explorations team in the data cleaning, analyses and reporting of the annual Index survey conducted by CAQH. The survey tracks the adoption of electronic administrative healthcare transaction and the cost and time savings associated with moving from manual transactions to electronic transactions. Participants include medical and dental health plans and providers. This is the tenth report produced by CAQH. Data collection is scheduled to end September 1st with cleaning and analyses to begin immediately afterwards. Analyses include aggregating raw data, identifying and removing outliers, weighting, and calculating financial metrics such as cost savings opportunity and cost avoided. Analyses will be conducted using Qualtrics, STATA and Excel.

The intern will work with the data analyst on the analyses and will be provided with documentation that details the analyses and programming. The annual report including the findings and insights is scheduled to be released in early Q1 2023.

Deliverables include programming and analyses related to the provided data. Outcomes from the analyses can be used for a course project, thesis or other related coursework as agreed upon by CAQH. If appropriate, CAQH will assist the intern in obtaining course credit for this work.

Specific Responsibilities
  • The internship will run for a maximum of 16 weeks; up to 20 hours per week.
  • Interns will be paid on an hourly basis.
  • This is a remote internship.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Must have working knowledge of a statistical programming tool such as STATA
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Should possess proficient analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Must be working towards a degree in health policy, health economics, or similar field with experience in data programming and analyses.
