Gwendolyn Lohse Named One of Most Powerful Women in Healthcare IT by Health Data Management
CAQH Deputy Director and CAQH CORE Managing Director Gwendolyn Lohse has been named by Health Data Management as one of the 2017 Most Powerful Women in Healthcare IT, in the thought leader category. The award recognizes women in the field of healthcare IT who have made valuable contributions to advancing the industry.
Lohse has been with CAQH since its inception. She played an instrumental role in bringing the important concept of operating rules to the healthcare industry and in creating CAQH CORE, the Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange, the industry-wide alliance that led to their development and wide-spread adoption. More than 130 organizations – including health plans, hospitals and health systems and IT vendors – have joined CAQH CORE.
Under Lohse’s leadership, CAQH CORE became the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)-designated author of operating rules for administrative data exchange. She also established the CORE Certification Program, known as the industry gold standard. CAQH CORE has awarded more than 300 certifications to date, with many more in the formal pipeline, driving an expectation among U.S.-based health plans and health systems that their data exchange trading partners meet certain requirements.
HHS estimates that within 10 years of implementation of CORE’s operating rules for eligibility and claims status transactions alone, providers will save between $7.9 billion and $9.5 billion, and health plans between $5 and $5.8 billion.
The winners were honored at The Most Powerful Women in Healthcare IT conference in Boston on May 17. View the full list of awardees.
