Making it Easier for Providers to Enroll in Electronic Payments

December 2017

CAQH has reduced the number of steps it takes for healthcare providers to enroll in electronic funds transfer (EFT) with payers. Now, in just two clicks—in less than one minute—providers already registered with EnrollHub can sign up to receive electronic payments with additional payers. Previously, providers were required to log into the system, access their account and request enrollment with those payers.

EnrollHub is an online, electronic solution that enables providers to enroll in EFT and Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) through a single, secure application, then share it with multiple payers. According to the 2016 CAQH Index, while there has been a 12 percent growth in electronic payments over the last four years, adoption still remains under 70 percent for health plans and under 10 percent for dental plans. With full electronic adoption of both EFT and ERA, payers and providers could save $1.4 billion annually combined.

Through increased provider use of EFT and ERA, CAQH estimates that EnrollHub has saved the healthcare industry more than $200 million since its launch in 2014.

Health and dental plans are invited to learn how to increase provider enrollment in EFT and ERA by viewing an on-demand webinar that features the lessons learned from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. Using EnrollHub, the plan increased EFT enrollment by their network providers to over 90 percent, while reducing data errors and provider abrasion.
