CAQH, a nonprofit alliance creating shared initiatives to streamline the business of healthcare, has been selected by Modern Healthcare as one of the 2016 Best Places to Work in Healthcare.

“CAQH is committed to fostering a workplace of excellence where employees are encouraged to offer innovative ideas, make valuable contributions as individuals and support each other’s efforts,” said CAQH Executive Director Robin J. Thomashauer. “This recognition also underlines our commitment to a strong set of values and practices that enable us to attract and retain a stellar workforce.” 

The Modern Healthcare award program identifies 100 outstanding healthcare employers nationwide based on feedback provided by an employee engagement and satisfaction survey and a review of organizational policies, practices and demographics. The awardees were recognized at an Awards Ceremony in New Orleans this month. CAQH was ranked in the top third of all employers receiving the award.

As an organization firmly rooted in values that promote a culture of collaboration, idea-sharing and transparency, employees and leadership work in partnership to develop programs and events that reflect this spirit. There is a committee of staff and leadership who meet to discuss CAQH values and how they are applied in the organization to ongoing work and projects. The executive director holds quarterly conversations in an open forum to invite feedback from staff on operational issues or concerns. Routine briefings after meetings with the CAQH Board of Directors are also held to keep staff informed of governance issues.

CAQH has a firm commitment to employee personal and professional growth and ensures that staff have access to on- and off-site development opportunities. All-staff retreats are held annually to facilitate team building and develop a shared understanding of organizational goals and values. The organization also provides tuition reimbursement for higher education degrees to enable employees to grow within their fields.

CAQH encourages work-life balance providing access to an onsite gym, health and wellness team activities, easily transportable technology for occasional telework as needed and snacks and drinks throughout the workday. The Employee Activities Committee also hosts regular group social events, such as potlucks, charity outings, ice cream socials and seasonal gatherings to facilitate relationship and team building throughout the year.
