The American Journal of Managed Care reports that the latest CAQH Index findings highlight a significant opportunity to reduce healthcare costs by addressing systemic administrative inefficiencies. Broader and more consistent use of existing electronic administrative processes could unlock up to $20 billion in annual savings.

The report emphasizes that many routine interactions between providers and health plans already have digital solutions in place, yet adoption remains uneven. As a result, organizations continue to rely on manual processes that increase costs, consume staff time, and add unnecessary complexity.

The findings reinforce an important industry lesson: progress does not always depend on new tools or major system overhauls. In many cases, meaningful improvement comes from scaling proven approaches that already exist.

By reducing administrative burden, healthcare organizations can free up resources, improve operational focus, and support a more sustainable system overall. Read the full article in the AJMC.
