A new HealthLeaders Media article highlights CAQH data showing that as the deadline for the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule approaches, providers are losing confidence in their ability to meet the mandate.
The article cites the 2025 CAQH Index, which found that fully moving from manual administrative work to automated electronic workflows could save the healthcare industry $21 billion. Erin Weber, Chief Policy and Research Officer at CAQH, notes that those gains depend on standardized digital workflows, not technology layered onto broken manual processes.
“The biggest returns on AI tend to come when AI is layered on top of standardized digital workflows, and not when it’s used to patch broken manual processes,” Weber says.
