It streamlines provider data collection, maintenance and sharing by using a standard electronic form that meets the needs of nearly every health and dental plan, hospital, provider group and other healthcare organization.

CAQH ProView enables dentists, physicians and other healthcare professionals in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories to enter information free-of-charge into a secure central database and authorize healthcare organizations to access that information. CAQH ProView eliminates redundant paperwork and reduces administrative burden.

How does this service make it easier for dentists to credential with my dental plan?

In two important ways: First, once a dentist completes their CAQH ProView profile, it can be shared with any participating dental plan, eliminating the need to fill out duplicative credentialing applications for each plan.

Second, any U.S. practicing dentist can participate in this service by logging into ADA.org/godigital, clicking on “My Credential” and accepting the terms and conditions. They will be redirected to CAQH ProView, where specific information from the ADA has been automatically entered into their credentialing application - making it easier and quicker for the dentist to complete and attest.

How does CAQH ProView ensure that dentists keep their information up-to-date?

Dentists can update their information any time their practice or professional data changes. Automatic reminders also encourage dentists to review and attest to their information every 120 days so that their CAQH ProView profiles remain timely and accurate. The system will also prompt users if their licenses or other documentation is about to expire.

What types of organizations are able to access dentist data in CAQH ProView?

Every dental and health plan may use CAQH ProView if they choose to participate. Over 900 organizations currently participate in CAQH ProView, including health plans, third party administrators, hospitals, health systems and provider groups-practices.

Does it cost anything to use CAQH ProView?

There is no cost for dentists or other healthcare providers to use CAQH ProView. This important safety check requires providers such as doctors, dentists, and other allied healthcare professionals to show they have the proper education, training and licenses to care for patients. Hospitals and health plans verify the information supplied by the provider before they are included as an in-network provider.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (Joint Commission) also require this credentialing process. CMS requires it before a provider can be eligible for Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement. And most hospitals pursue a Joint Commission accreditation to demonstrate their commitment to providing high-quality care.

How the provider credentialing process works

There are several steps in the provider enrollment and credentialing process. A provider has to complete this process with every health plan they want to enroll with.

The provider supplies the information required, including contact information, current CV, education and training history, licensing and certificates, medical group and hospital affiliations, Board certifications, sanctions or malpractice history, proof of liability insurance and peer references.

The health plan or provider organization checks that all the information is correct and up to date.

If no problems are encountered, the provider organization or health plan awards a credential to the provider.

The provider credentialing process can take as little as 30 days to complete up to as much as six months or more, particularly if the credentialing information is being transmitted via fax or mail.

Resources for health plans to speed up credentialing

Long credentialing processes cause significant financial challenges for health plans, hospitals, providers and patients. Instead, they can submit one standardized file through a centralized portal, which automatically checks for errors. Participating plans then receive higher quality provider data that can be easily uploaded into their systems and online directories.

Since its inception, interest in this solution from both health plans and groups has continued to grow. However, the stakes increased when the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) began conducting annual reviews of Medicare Advantage online provider directories in 2016. Since then, failure to maintain accurate provider directory information leaves health plans subject to thousands of dollars in fines for each subscriber.

Historically, the best method to verify provider information has been to make phone calls, but that option is both expensive and burdensome. According to CAQH estimates, reducing provider outreach alone could save about $91 million annually for health plans. Total savings resulting from better data quality will likely be much higher.

CAQH AI integrates an extensive source of provider-attested data, as well as information from multiple third-party sources. The technology draws on CAQH ProView®, which more than 1.4 million providers routinely use to share professional and demographic information. Through ongoing sample audits, CAQH is continually improving the model’s identification of good and bad data. Ultimately, more accurate directory information should have a positive downstream impact on access to care.

Read the recent CAQH press release to learn more.

Type

Article

Audience

Public

CAQH Program

CAQH ProView

Tue, 26 Mar 2019 20:10:56 +0000 mwoolston@caqh.org 2300 at https://www.caqh.org Supporting Delegated Provider Data Management https://www.caqh.org/about/newsletter/2019/supporting-delegated-provider-data-management Supporting Delegated Provider Data Management mwoolston@caqh.org Thu, 02/28/2019 - 09:17

MD-Staff Generating CAQH ProView for Groups-compatible Rosters

February 2019

The traditional model of sharing data between delegated healthcare provider groups and health plans is complex for all parties. Plans frequently receive delegated group information in varying formats and at different times. Delegated groups must maintain unique rosters and change reports for each plan, and typically do not know when plans process their data.

Applied Statistics & Management Inc. (ASM), through its credentialing system MD-Staff, is working with CAQH to simplify the way groups share provider information with health plans. MD-Staff now automatically generates rosters that can be uploaded directly into CAQH ProView for Groups.

CAQH ProView for Groups is a new feature of CAQH ProView, which is the industry standard for sharing self-reported provider information. With the new functionality, plans receive cleaner provider data with less manual effort, greater transparency and faster data validation. Delegated groups can upload one standard roster file. CAQH ProView for Groups then performs over 120 automated quality checks on roster submissions, so 72 percent of common roster errors are corrected before being sent to plans. Once information is shared, groups can see the exact date and time each plan downloads their file.

Read the press release to learn more about how MD-Staff and CAQH ProView for Groups are working together.
