Sr. Master Data Management Analyst
Position Description
Data is CAQH’s most critical asset, and you will help define how we think about and manage it. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design, governance, and optimization of enterprise master data domains including provider, location, payer, member and reference data. This role ensures the integrity, standardization, and stewardship of critical healthcare data assets across business and operational systems. This role partners with business stakeholders, data engineering, analytics, and governance teams to design, implement, and continuously improve MDM frameworks, controls, and monitoring processes.
The Sr. MDM Analyst is a full-time, remote, exempt position and reports to the Director, Data Governance.
Base Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 annually
Specific Responsibilities:
· Lead development, processes, methodology and operations of the MDM program under the Data Governance Office.
· Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise MDM solutions for healthcare master data domains (Patient, Provider, Location, Payer, and Reference Data) within MDM tools.
· Manage and optimize provider and member master data to ensure accurate identity resolution and record matching.
· Develop and maintain data matching, survivorship, and standardization rules to reduce duplicates and improve data consistency.
· Collaborate with business areas and ancillary system teams to ensure accurate integration of master data across platforms.
· Ensure compliance with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR) and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and CMS reporting guidelines.
· Establish and monitor data quality KPIs related to master data (duplicate rates, merge accuracy, record completeness, standardization compliance).
· Conduct root cause analysis for data discrepancies affecting patient identity, billing accuracy, provider attribution, and regulatory submissions.
· Lead data governance activities for assigned domains, including defining data ownership, stewardship workflows, and data policies around MDM.
· Support audits and accreditation processes by ensuring master data accuracy and traceability.
· Partner with analytics and population health teams to ensure trusted master data supports data quality reporting.
· Document data definitions, lineage, metadata, and business rules related to master data entities.
· Identify automation and optimization opportunities in identity resolution and data stewardship workflows.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Provide mentorship and functional oversight to junior MDM analysts and data stewards.
· Lead master data governance workgroups and cross-functional initiatives.
· Review and validate data stewardship activities, match/merge decisions, and quality reports.
· Assist in prioritizing MDM enhancements aligned with regulatory deadlines and organizational strategy.
· Contribute to performance evaluations and professional development planning for team members (as applicable).
Skills:
Technical Skills:
· Advanced SQL and experience with healthcare data warehouses.
· Hands-on experience with MDM platforms (e.g., Ataccama, Informatica MDM, Reltio, IBM InfoSphere, or similar).
· Strong knowledge of EMPI concepts and probabilistic/deterministic matching methodologies.
· Understanding of healthcare data standards (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, SNOMED, LOINC).
· Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR).
· Experience with data profiling and data quality tools.
· Knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management tools.
Analytical & Soft Skills:
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills focused on identity resolution and data standardization.
· High attention to detail, particularly with patient and provider data integrity.
· Ability to translate clinical and operational business requirements into MDM rules and governance processes.
· Strong communication skills to engage product groups, revenue cycle leaders, compliance teams, and IT stakeholders.

Experience:
· 5–8+ years of experience in master data management, data governance, or healthcare data management roles.
· 2+ years of leadership and proficiency in the design and development of data focused solutions and tooling (including SQL and NoSQL).
· Proven experience implementing enterprise master data management frameworks within master data management tools (e.g., Ataccama, Informatica MDM, Reltio, IBM InfoSphere, or similar).
· Proven experience supporting regulatory reporting, payer audits, or value-based care initiatives.
· Experience in hospitals, health systems, payer organizations, or healthcare technology companies preferred.
· Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional MDM or data governance initiatives.
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field required.
· Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
· Relevant certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), MDM platform certifications, or equivalent are a plus.
